A tunnelling apparatus involves the combination of a tunnel-driving shield 1 and an earth-winning equipment having a cutter head 15 so mounted on a boom 9 as to be rotatable about and reciprocable along the longitudinal axis of the boom that is mounted on a structure 5, 6 anchored in the shield to be universally swingable by rams 10, 12 of the structure 5, 6.
