Abstract
1,166,473. Injection moulding machines. INVENTIONS FINANCE CORP. 3 Sept., 1966, No. 22626/69. Divided out of 1,166,472. Addition to 1,075,801. Heading B5A. Injection moulding apparatus comprises a screw 78 for continuously feeding moulding material through a passage 80 to a transfer chamber 84, an injection piston 60 extending within the transfer chamber and an injection chamber 59, a non-return valve 200 between the two chambers 84 and 59, and a movable sleeve 66 surrounding the injection piston to vary the volume of the transfer chamber, the valve 200 being substantially fixed relative to an encircling wall. The sleeve 66 is displaceable by fluidoperated piston-and-cylinder devices 70, 75. The injection piston is moved by a piston-andcylinder device 62, 63. At the end of the injection stroke the valve 200 closes, and material delivered by the feed-screw 78 pushes the sleeve 66 rearwardly. When cylinder 63 is connected to exhaust, piston 60 is pressed back by the material in chamber 59 thereby reopening the valve 200, and material can again pass to chamber 59 to push the piston 60 back to its fully withdrawn position.
