In a liquid level indicator in which the inspection glass 3 is held in position by a cover plate 8 and is protected from the liquid in the liquid conduit 12 by foil 4, such as mica, arranged between the liquid and the glass 3 a passage, leading to atmosphere, is provided from the gap between the foil 4 and the glass 3, between a sealing or pressure ring 6 and the edge of the glass 3 and grooves 11 in the outer face of the ring 6.
