Abstract

1,165,397. Mineral-mining installations. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 6 March, 1967 [9 April, 1966], No. 10448/67. Heading E1F. In a longwall mining installation a driven endless haulage chain 8 extending between drive and reversal stations at the ends of the face engages and drives gearing 10 in a mining machine slidably supported on a face conveyer. The gearing 10 drives the drum or disc cutter means, 11 or 11 and 13, of the machine as well as means by which the machine can haul itself to and fro along a stationary chain 5 extending along a mineral face between anchorages at the ends of the face. Preferably the means involves a hydraulic pump driven by the gearing 10 and driving a motor on the output shaft of which is a sprocket that meshes with the stationary chain.
