A table top 2 can be displaced forwardly to overhang the front edge of the table stand 1 and then tilted, or the table top can be displaced rearwardly away from the front edge and then reversed. When the top is displaced forwardly flat journals 4 on the side members 1d of the stand 1 move in guides 3 on the table top and engage in slots in rotatable inserts 3a at the ends of the guides 3. At the same time pivots 6 on the sides of the table top slide to the open ends of horizontal slots 7 in the side members 1d of the frame. The top is then tilted about the axis of the rotatable inserts 3a, the pivots 6 moving through the open ends of the slots 7. The top is held in inclined position by a pivoted arm 8 engaging notches 10a in a further slot 10 in one of the side members 1d. In order to reverse the table top it is displaced rearwardly when in horizontal position until the flat journals 4 emerge from the open ends of the guides 3; the pivots 6 have now reached the closed ends of the slots 7. The top is then rotated about the pivots 6 and then slid forwardly until short guides 5 at the opposite end of the table to the guides 3 engage ball springs (13) on the inner surfaces of the side member 1d. The pivots 6 are covered by plastic cups which rotate on the pivots. The stand is made of metal tubes of rectangular section. The end of one tube (1b Fig. 8) is secured in a recess in another tube (1a) by a bolt (1h) screwed into a threaded insert (1g) in the end of the first tube. The inserted end is either beaded or tapered. A side part (Ii), (Fig. 10) may be secured by a member (17) to the table stand, the side part having a drawer (19), a tray (20), an adjustable and foldable support (21) for drawings and a cupboard. The drawer may carry a wedge shaped plate (22) (Figs. 13, 13a) adapted to move a latch (23) into one of the slots 7 to lock the table top in horizontal position. A tray (16) (Fig. 9) has a portion shaped to engage over the front or rear bars 1b 1c of the table stand. The lengths of the legs of the table can be adjusted by screws (27 Fig. 12) screwed into insets (26) engaged in the ends of the legs. Two or more tables can be connected together in a row (Fig. 11) by using the members (17) (Fig. 10) for attaching the side parts (Ii) and drawers 19 can be connected between the tables.
