Abstract
1,164,768. Clutch control. ALFRED TEVES G.m.b.H. 2 May, 1968 [20 June, 1967], No. 20899/68. Heading F2L. An hydraulic booster in the line between an hydraulic transmitter and a clutch actuating receiver boosts the pressure supplied to the receiver in response to the transmitter pressure. The booster comprises a piston 11 having a valve 12 which is unseated in the inoperative position of the booster so that the transmitter communicates, by way of a port 1, passage 18, chamber 15, the unseated valve 12 and a cylinder chamber 14 with a port 2 leading to the receiver. An hydraulic accumulator is connected, by way of a port 9 and a passage 7 to an annular space 37 which is sealed by a flared valve head 36 from a chamber 8. On actuating the transmitter the resulting increase in pressure in chamber 15 moves a control piston 3 to the left, unseating the valve head 36 so that accumulator pressure is supplied to the chamber 8 and thence via a passage 20, to an annular cylinder chamber 10 where it acts on an annular surface 23 of the piston 11 which is thereby shifted to the right, thus seating the valve 12. The pressures in chambers 15, 10 acting on the associated areas of the piston combine to give an augmented pressure in the chamber 14 for actuating the clutch.
