Abstract

1,164,676. Foldable vehicle-body sides. NIEDERÍSTERREICHISCHE MOLKEREI. 23 Nov., 1967 [23 Nov., 1966], No. 53423;67. Heading B7B. A foldable vehicle-body side comprises two longitudinally hinged parts 1, 1, the lower part being hinged at 5 to the vehicle platform 6 and the upper part having rollers 3 vertically movable in guides 4, there being counter balance springs 7 between the upper part and the top of the guides, and in collapsing the side from its vertical closing position the hinge 2 is pulled outwards and down until the parts are in the position of Fig. 3, whence pivoting of the parts 1 about hinge 5 causes the rollers 3 to enter a laterally expanded portion of the guides and the parts to take up their rest position in which they depend vertically. The springs 7 may be replaced by rubber cables or rope and pulley arrangements.
