Abstract

1,164,452. Nails. BETTY JACKSON, [trading as JACKDAW DESIGNS]. 29 Sept., 1966 [6 July, 1965], No. 28474/65. Heading F2H. A nail having a plain shank 10 with no reentrant portion has its penetrating tip formed with at least two integral cutting edges 12 disposed in a plane normal to the axis of the nail, said cutting edges not defining a closed area, so that at least one part of the cutting edges will always intersect parallel grain of wood or parallel boundaries of laminar material regardless of the orientation of the nail about its axis relative to the parallel direction of the grain or laminar. The cutting edges may form an H, T, V, X or Z, the cross-bar of the T and the end limbs of the Z may be arcuate. The shank may be of circular, square or oval cross-section. The cutting edges may be formed by forcing the nail tip into a die.
