Abstract

1,163,312. Fluid-pressure apparatus. WELLMAN CONTROLS Ltd. Aug. 4, 1967 [Aug. 27, 1966], No.38518/66. Heading F1P. A piston 11 slidable in a cylinder 10 is selectively arranged to be cushioned near the end of its stroke towards a cylinder end block 12 or allowed to complete its stroke un-cushioned. As shown, the piston is arranged to be cushioned, since fluid, e.g. air, which is exhausted by the piston through a chamber 13 and port 24, has to pass through a bore 20 having an adjustable bleed valve, when a plug 15 on the piston enters the chamber 13. To change to un-cushioned operation, the plug 29 of a spring-loaded ball valve 27 is removed from a port 25 and fitted to the port 24 so that fluid is exhausted unrestricted through a bore 23 and the port 25. To return the piston fluid is supplied through the port 24 or 25 which is not blocked by the plug 29.
