Abstract

1,163,186. Swimming pool steps. M. A. MAY. 5 June, 1968 [5 June, 1967], No. 25880/67. Heading A4N. Swimming pool steps comprise a pair of tubular hand rails 1 and 2 which act as flow and return pipes for the circulation of water from and to the pool by means of a pump external of the pool. Preferably incorporated in a skimmer box 10 having an opening 11 in the front thereof behind which is a flap 12 which is hinged at its bottom edge 13, whereby the upper edge acts as a weir over which debris will pass, the flap adjusts itself to the different levels of water in the pool. A horizontal perforated plate 14 in the box 10 retains the debris. Water flows from the box 10 by way of the flexible pipe 16 connected to the flow pipe rail 2, the lower end of which is closed and when the pump is operated water is withdrawn from the box 10. A connector 17, normally closed by a screw plug, is provided for the attachment of a vacuum cleaner with a flexible hose for cleaning the floor of the pool.
