Abstract

[Also in Division G2] A document 11, to be copied, is introduced on to an exposure drum 12 along guide 13 which terminates in jaws 104, 105 movable between a position where the document is presented for gripping by gripper fingers 14, Fig. 1, and a position where the document is presented against a fixed stop 106. When solenoid operated latch 107 is released the document is gripped by grippers 14, the latch being re-set by pin 111 on the drum 12. Gripper mechanism.-A pin 25 engages arm 24 of dog 17 attached to gripper-carrying arm 15, thus displacing toggle 18 to its first stable position and withdrawing the grippers into the drum. A pin 26 engages arm 23 of dog 17, moving toggle 18 to its second stable position and closing the grippers on a document. Pin 25 is adapted to engage the dogs to move one, or both sets of grippers, under the control of solenoids. Delivering sheets.-Weight 19 rotatably suspended on shaft 15 carries arm 27 which protrudes from drum 12 when the assembly passes below the drum's horizontal axis, thus urging the leading edge of a document towards shoot 29 after passing over pressure roller 31. Faulty feed.-If a sheet is not fed correctly a warning lamp will be illuminated and any further operation of the machine will be stopped.
