A marine propeller 1 has a boss 3 provided with a tapering bore 4 to fit the tapering end 5 of a propeller shaft 2, in which boss is cast a passage 7 for a heating fluid, the inlet and the outlet 8, 9 of the passage being radially arranged and directed toward the external surface of the boss between its inner and outer ends. The passage may comprise loops, or, as shown, may follow a helical path.
