Abstract
1,162,296. Clock springs. CITIZEN TOKEI K.K. 28 April, 1967 [30 April, 1966 (2)], No. 19806/67. Heading F2S. [Also in Division G3] A barrel spring is adapted to be mounted in a timepiece so as to extend from an outer anchorage on the spring through an S-shaped portion to a main coil, thus to form a reflex zone between the outer anchorage and the 8-shaped portion, the spring, except for its outer anchorage, being of substantially uniform thickness throughout its length and having a lower elasticity of flexure in the part intended to form the reflex zone than in the remainder of the spring. The elasticity of flexure of said part is reduced as by local heat treatment or by the provision therein of a slot or notch, or notches, or perforations, to avoid an undesirable increase in torque on initial unwinding of the spring due to the stress in said part.
