Abstract

1,162,072. Dispensing from collapsible tubes. C. B. WATSON. 18 Jan., 1967, No. 2619/67. Heading B8D. A dispenser for a collapsible tube has an inner case 12 with an open side and an outer case 18 slidable over the case 12, an operating handle 90 being mounted on the case 12 for raising a squeezer assembly, by means of a pawl and ratchet mechanism which winds a cord 68, fixed at one end to the assembly, about a shaft 40. The assembly, which includes a block 56 and pivoted pressure member 54 is guided in a longitudinal slot in the ease 12 and engages a pair of strips 86, 87 fixed at their lower ends to the bottom wall 38 of the case. The strip 86, of resilient material, may be faced with emery cloth on its inner face in order to grip the tube; the strip 87 may be of polypropylene to avoid friction with the tube. A stop pawl 100 is sprung into active position as the outer case 18 is applied; a driving pawl 106 may be held in inactive position by pressing a pivoted arm 108. A basal aperture 50 in the case 18 enables the user to insert a finger to separate the inner and outer cases; an aperture 52, also for finger insertion, enables the tube to be completely emptied.
