A plaster composition comprises by weight 70-99À9% autoclaved hemihydrate plaster, up to 30% dry calcined hemihydrate plaster, up to 5% ground gypsum mineral, and 0À1 to 0À25% of a cellulose ether of 6,000 cp. viscosity in a 2% solution or a corresponding amount of cellulose ether of a different viscosity. The composition may also include a retarder and 0À97% of lime.
