Abstract

1,161,045. Moulding insulated building panels. J. S. STAHL. 25 March, 1968, No. 14168/68. Heading B5A. Thin building panels comprising a foamed resin layer faced with a solid layer of resin are made by applying a liquid resin to a first supporting film and heating the resin to partially cure it, repeating for a second supporting film, placing the coated films opposite each other in a press with the films outward, introducing a resin between and foaming it into contact with the coatings, heating to cure and bond the foam and coating layers together and removing the film from the panel. The outer layer may comprise a resin impregnated glass fibre mat, the resin being a polyester or an acrylic. The foamed resin is preferably polyurethane and may contain fire-proofing materials such as portland cement and solid cores of hardboard or flakeboard.
