Abstract
1,159,614. Laminates. TAKEHARA KASEI KOGYO K.K. 11 Oct., 1966 [20 Aug., 1966], No. 45482/66. Heading B5N. An extruded layer of a polyolefine, preferably low or high density polyethylene, is bonded to a metal surface, e.g. of iron, steel, tin-plated iron, aluminium or brass, by preheating the metal to above 145‹ C., calendering the polyolefin layer thereon and either (a) maintaining the assembly between 50-200‹ C. for at least 2 minutes before allowing it to cool, or (b) after cooling of the assembly, reheating it to between 50-200‹ C. for at least 2 minutes. The polyolefin may be blended with a bonding-improving additive, e.g. polybutadiene or a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. Quantitative examples are given.
