Abstract

1,159,068. Electric battery lamps. OLDHAM & SON Ltd., and H. MORTON. 24 April, 1968 [7 June, 1967], No. 26348/67. Heading F4R. A headlamp comprises an electric battery housing 2 and a headpiece 1 which is detachable from the housing and includes a shell 3, a lens 4, a lens ring 5 and a reflector 6, the bulb holder 7 of the headpiece being connected to the batteries by a flexible cable 10. The headpiece is attached to the housing by means of a mounting 17 rotatable on a spindle 18 and provided with a pair of diametrically opposed grooves 39, 40 adapted to receive lugs 37, 38 on the headpiece, the lugs being retained in the grooves by the ends 42, 43 of a handle 41 engaged with the mounting. The mounting is formed with cam members 44, 45 so that when the handle 41 is pivoted towards the housing the ends 42, 43 are withdrawn laterally to release the headpiece. The mounting co-operates with the end wall 19 of the housing to form a chamber 20 for the cable 10 which passes through a guiding aperture in the mounting and can be withdrawn from the chamber or coiled about the spindle 18 by rotating the mounting relative to the housing. A switch may be operated by rotating the lens ring 5 relative to the shell 3.
