1,158,475. Crimping yarns. G. ROBERTS. 28 Nov., 1967 [1 Dec., 1966], No. 53891/66. Heading D1F. A method of texturing or crimping thermoplastic synthetic yarn comprises passing the yarn between two members e.g. a roller and an endless band or belt or a second roller, one of which has closely set ribs and the other has a rubber or like resilient surface and subjecting it to the action of ultra-sonic vibrations imparted to one or the other of the members. The yarn is formed into the grooves between the ribs and heat is generated within the yarn fibres to produce permanent (set) crimp in the yarn.
