Abstract

1,158,472. Sealing strips. BERNARD DIXON & PARTNERS Ltd. 9 Nov., 1967 [12 Aug., 1966], No. 36198/66. Addition to 1,073,471. Heading E1J. An edge sealing strip for sealing variable width openings comprises an elongated rigid hollow element 1 of P.V.C., an asbestos compound, or metal having a longitudinally extending slit 4 opening into the hollow, a sealing element 10 retained in the slit and by a wider section 11, and a resilient member 5 urging the seal element outwards, the relative sizes of the members being such that the seal element can be depressed into the hollow element. The seal element may be elastomer, asbestos, metal with or without a resilient insert, and metal element may be magnetic. The resilient member 5 may be neoprene, or may be replaced by a metal spring or a solid sponge member. The members 5 and element 10 may be moulded or extruded in one piece from the same material.
