Abstract

1,157,762. Floor coverings; unit furniture. V. PANTON. 17 March, 1967 [19 March, 1966], No. 12513/67. Headings A4S and A4U. Carpet panels 1, in close interfitting relationship on a floor, are replaceable by interchangeable furniture units 3, 4, 5 in the form of tables, stools and chairs, each having a flat base of the same shape as the panels, part panels 2, 2b being provided, if necessary, at the edges of the floor. The units include low and high-backed chairs, with or without arm rests, and lateral surfaces of the units are vertical so that adjacent panels can be replaced thereby to form bench seats. In a modification the panels are rectangular or square.
