Abstract
1,157,584. Oxychlorination catalysts. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 4 Sept., 1967 [2 Sept., 1966], No. 40290/67. Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] In a process for the manufacture of alkyl chloride or methallyl chloride a catalyst containing chemically bound vanadium and elemented and/or chemically .bound tellurium is used. Numerous suitable Te and V compounds are specified but in the Examples the following catalysts are prepared and used:- (1) balls of bentonite impregnated with of solution of tellurium dioxide and vanadium - IV - oxychloride in dilute HCl and dried; (2) silica gel impregnated with tellurium -IV chloride and vanadium V oxychloride in HCl and dried: and (3) pulverulent silicic acid, Te powder and V 2 O 5 physically mixed.
