Abstract
1,157,094. Catalytic apparatus. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORP. 6 July, 1966 [3 Aug., 1965], No. 30305/66. Heading B1F. [Also in Division C1] Hydrogen is produced from a hydrocarbonaceous feed stock in an apparatus as shown in Fig. 1, wherein the cylindrical reaction vessel 2 has an inlet 6 and outlet 8, and a number of tubes 10 formed from a metal selectively permeable to hydrogen. A catalyst 16, suitable for reducing a mixture of hydrocarbonaceous feedstock and steam, is packed around the tubes 10. In operation, a gaseous mixture of feedstock and steam is introduced at the inlet 6 and passed through the catalyst wherein the feedstock and steam react to produce hydrogen and carbon oxides products. The hydrogen diffuses through the wall of the tubes 10 and is extracted at the outlet 8.
