A steam-spray iron comprises a pump 6 of the piston and cylinder type to pump water from a reservoir (not shown) in the iron to an atomising nozzle 11 there being appropriate one way valves 15, 31 in the pump and nozzle respectively and the pump and nozzle being interconnected by a flexible duct 9. The pump 13 operated by depressing a push button 8 against the action of a return spring 18.
