Abstract

1,155,677. Cooling cement clinker; discharging rotary kilns. F. L. SMIDTH & CO. A.S. 22 Jan., 1968, No. 3289/68. Heading F4B. In a rotary kiln having planetary coolers of the uphill type, each cooler has helical, troughshaped conveyer flights 9 throughout its length, an internal layer of insulation 12 in the hotter part of the tube and an external layer 11 in the cooler part. The insulation 12 is in the form of plates 16 disposed in recesses below wearing plates 14 attached to the cooler shell 6 by bolts extending through holes 17 with head recesses 15. The plates 14 are slightly spaced from said shell by ribs 18. The conveyer flights comprise sections 13, each carried by a wearing plate 14 and stiffened by external stays 19 and/or internal ribs 20.
