Abstract

1,155,646. Fuses; fuse holders. AMP Inc. 3 Oct., 1967 [15 Nov., 1966], No. 51030/66. Headings H2E and H2G. A fuse connector comprises a block 1 of insulating material formed with a cavity 2 for receiving a cartridge fuse, a pair of contacts 4 mounted in the block and having portions 6 disposed in the cavity for receiving respective ends of the cartridge fuse, the block being formed with a slot 9 for slidably receiving a strip carrying alternative fuse elements (11) (Fig. 2, not shown), raised portions (10) of the contacts being arranged to frictionally engage terminal portions of the strip fuse elements when inserted in the slot. A further fuse element 7 associated with each cavity may be located in contact with turned out portions of the contacts 6. Several cavities provided side-by-side in the block 1 are linked by a slot 9 and printed fuse elements (12, 13) on the carrier strip may be provided such that on failure of one fuse element (12) the strip can be repositioned to bring the other element (13) into the operative position. Fuse elements may also be formed on the reverse side of the carrier strip.
