Abstract

1,154,964. Feeding sheets. PARNALL & SONS Ltd. 14 Feb., 1968 [9 March, 1967], No. 11120/67. Heading B8R. A sheet feeding device comprises a feed path having an aligning surface 15 defining one edge of the path, feeding means comprising at least one row of at least partspherical sheet driving members 23 mounted for rotation and serving to move sheets along the path and towards the surface, and means for driving the members. The members 23, which may be spherical balls or part-spherical members, made of nylon or steel, and coated with nylon or polytetrafluorethylene, are supported in apertures 22 in block material 21 between plates 11, 12 having frusto-conical apertures 18, are rotated by a belt 30, and are arranged in an elongated Z configuration as in Fig. 1 or in a straight line inclined towards the surface 15. The sheets are fed along between plates 12, 13 and are pressed against the members 23 by similar members 25 supported in apertures 26 in block material 24 on the plate 13, which also have frusto-conical apertures 18. The plates 11, 12 extend beyond the plate 13 in feed direction and support one member 23 beyond the row of members 25.
