1,153,128. Milking machines. M. M. GOIKHENBERG, V. V. JASINSKY, G. I. JURIN, A. D. SYNGAEVSKY, I. M. PANTELEEV and M. M. KOSTJUCHENKO. 17 June, 1966, No. 27191/66. Heading A1M. A control device for a teat cup cluster and clawpiece comprises a horizontal boom 3 with a teat cup cluster holder 5 at one end, the other end being secured to a housing 2 movable on a vertical stand 1, the boom and the housing being movable in the horizontal and vertical directions respectively by connection to exhaust means, there being means for controlling said connection in accordance with a preset programme influenced by the rate of milk flow from the udder. In the described embodiment normal milking begins when the teat cups are in place on the teats. Milk passes through a milk meter 12 to the milk line 23. Timer mechanism 14 maintains the process for a predetermined period regardless of any variations in milk flow, after which period when the flow decreases to a predetermined rate timer 14 causes relays 15 to open valve 17 to connect the housing 2 to the vacuum line, placing a downward force E on the teat cups and causing stripping to be effected for a predetermined period, whereafter when flow once again decreases to a predetermined rate, valve 16 closes to disconnect the teat cups from the milk line, while valve 18 opens to connect the boom to the vacuum, so that the teat cups are withdrawn downwards from the teats and the boom 3 is telescoped, downward movement of the housing ending in a rotary movement under the action of a pin and a cam 6 to bring the holder 5 from beneath the cow.
