Abstract

1,151,854. Converting. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 12 July, 1966 [13 July, 1965], No. 29710/65. Heading H2F. A bipolar D.C. transmission system comprises a converter associated with each pole, and a switching network operable upon a fault occuring in the line connected to one pole to isolate the converter associated with that pole from the fault and connect it to the other pole. The switching network may also be arranged to switch a spare reactor into a line to replace a faulty one.
