Abstract
1,151,296. Vehicles compacting and discharging refuse. COMPANIA INMOBILIARIA Y FINANCIERA DE LA ESCALA S.A. 22 Sept., 1967 [22 Sept., 1966; 3 Oot., 1966], No. 43212/67. Heading B8E. [Also in Division B7] A refuse vehicle having a container 1 over its whole length and with the engine and other driving parts accommodated in lateral spaces under it has a compacting and discharging rammer 32 reciprocable therein which mounts a charging device which moves with it. The rammer has rollers 66 running tracks 67 in the side of the container and is driven by an hydraulic motor 48 through pinions engaging racks 64. The charging device also driven by the hydraulic motor 48 has blades 37 mounted on a rotatable cylinder 35 and engaged by scrapers 41 pivotable on axles 42. The rammer and charger are drivable together or separately through clutch means. Refuse introduced into a charging funnel 26 is forced through an opening 33 in the rammer 32 by the charging device and is scraped from the blades 37 by the scrapers 41 which also prevent it falling back into the funnel. The refuse in the container can be compressed by operating the rammer with or without the charger and when full the container is discharged through a door 29 at the front by actuation of the rammer.
