Abstract

1,151,129. Ball and socket joints. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. 6 Dec., 1967 [10 Dec., 1966], No. 55556/67. Heading E2F. A ball and socketjoint comprises a split sliding plate insert 3 incontact adjacent its edges with two axiallyspaced circumferentially extending ribs 5disposed in the bore 6 of the outer member 1,an inner member 2 and a plastic ring 4 injectedor cast in the space between the ribs andbetween the outer member and the slidingplate insert. The ribs may be spaced axially inwards from the end faces of the outer member and each preferably has at least one opening through it. Additional plastic rings 8 may be provided between members 1 and 2 and outside insert 3 and secured axially by narrow radially inwardly extending ribs or castellations 7.
