Abstract

1,150,787. Movable magnet switches. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 17 Aug., 1967 [24 Aug., 1966], No. 37854/67. Heading H1N. A keyboard with each key controlling a permanent magnet movable adjacent sealed magnetic contact units, has the adjacent magnets arranged with polarities opposed so as to limit interfering magnetic fields between adjacent units. As shown, the magnets 1 are polarized along their shortest axis parallel to the major axes of the contact units and the middle, horizontal row is polarized in the reverse direction to the other rows. The contact units 4 may be of the ball contact type similar to those of Specification 983,615 and may pass through holes or slots in the magnets 1 which are biased by compressionn springs. Alternate magnets in each row may be of opposite polarity (Figs. 6, 7, not shown) and the magnets may be mounted at an angle of 45 degrees to the rows and columns (Figs. 3, 5 and 7, not shown).
