Abstract

1,150,306. Treating fuel oil. COAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE and KAY SEVEN CO. Ltd. 25 July, 1966 [5 Aug., 1965(2); 12 March, 1966; 5 April, 1966], No. 33400/66. Heading C5E. A method for treating liquid fuel oil comprises the steps of circulating the liquid fuel oil from at least one supply source through at least one circulating line including at least one combustion zone of at least one engine and applying at least one ultra-sonic wave to said liquid at at least one point in each circulating line. Suitable apparatus may comprise a line formed with flat faces and optionally containing a flowrestricting plate to cause turbulent flow; the ultrasonic vibrations are applied to one or both of the flat faces. The frequency may be 27 kc./s.
