A wrench has a fixed jaw 2, and a jaw 14 pivoted on an arm 12 at 16, the arm being movable along the handle 6 of jaw 2 so as to vary the gap between the jaws. Arm 12 is locked on the handle in the desired position during operation of the wrench, by the engagement of teeth 8 with the handle with arm 12.
