Abstract

1,148,672. Monoazo dyes. YORKSHIRE DYEWARE & CHEMICAL CO. Ltd. 17 May, 1967 [31 May, 1966], No. 24073/66. Heading C4P. The invention comprises water-insoluble monoazo dyes of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are CH 3 or C 2 H 5 , R 3 is H or alkylene OH and the alkylene groups contain at least two carbon atoms. They may be obtained by diazotizing 2,4-dinitro-6-chloroaniline and coupling with an amine of formula which may comprise a mixture of the amines in which R 3 is H and alkylene OH. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. They are useful for dyeing or printing hydrophobic fibres.
