Abstract

1,145,199. Polyolefine laminates; biaxially oriented polyolefine film. NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORP. 12 June, 1967 [13 June, 1966], No. 27001/67. Headings B5B and B5N. A heat-sealable, oriented polypropylene film laminate comprises an oriented polypropylene base film having at least one oriented heatsealable thermoplastic layer firmly bonded thereto without an adhesive, said thermoplastic layer comprising a copolymer of ethylene and propylene made from a monomeric mixture containing from 2 to 6% by weight ethylene, with the balance essentially propylene. A layer of the copolymer may be bonded to each face of the polypropylene film and the base and the layer(s) are preferably biaxially oriented. The laminate may be made by tubular extrusion (preferably by coextrusion) by casting or by calendering, the laminate being oriented by stretching.
