Abstract

1144312 Valves BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH Ltd 16 June 1966 [18 June 1965] 25922/65 Headings G4B and B8 A fluid control device which can be used as a binary memory device suitable for use as a component in fluid logic systems comprises a chamber housing a flexible diagram 1 which is clamped between the housing members 2 and 3 and which is compressively stressed so as to bow outwardly and close either of the centrally disposed "readout" ports 5 and 6. Changeover is effected by applying pressure through the peripheral ports 7 or 8. "Read-out" is effected by momentarily applying pressure to both ports 7 and 8 and detecting whether fluid then flows from port 5 or port 6. The diaphragm may be formed of chlorobutadiene.
