Abstract

1,143,914. Projector lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 29 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967], No. 4440/68. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H1] A light source suitable for a film projector comprises a halogen incandescent lamp 3 secured by cement 11 to an ellipsoidal condenser mirror 1 with its filament 9 disposed along the mirror axis so as to contain the focus F, the ratio of the length t of the helical part of the filament to its maximum diameter d being less than 1À5. The mirror is made of glass having a thin " cold light " reflective coating 2 and has a fitting rim 12 provided with a locating projection 13. The filament is preferably wound from a first tungsten wire which is overwound with closely adjacent turns of a second tungsten wire of much finer gauge.
