Abstract
1,143,988. Rotary-piston internal-combustion engines. MOTORRADWERK ZSCHOPAU VEB. July 18, 1967, No.33013/67. Heading F1F. To improve the lubrication of the piston bearing 13, Fig. 1, in a rotary-piston I. C. engine of the kind having a three-sided piston planetarily rotatable within a casing having a bi-arcuate epitrochoidal inner periphery, sleeves 14, 15 associated with the shaft bearings 10, 11 are formed with nose-like projections 16 which extend into recesses 6, 7 formed in the eccentric 5 on which the piston 12 is mounted with the interposition of a sleeve 17. Lubricant supplied to the shaft bearings 10, 11 is afterwards collected in the recesses 6, 7 and via troughs 8 and ducts 9 in the eccentric transferred to the piston bearing 13. Only one of the recesses 6, 7 need include a trough 8. In another embodiment, the recesses are omitted and a collecting groove connected by a duct to the piston bearing is formed in one end-face of the eccentric. In a further embodiment, a collecting groove 18, Fig. 3, is formed in the sleeve 17 and lubricant is directed through a duct 19 into a trough 20 on the outer surface of the sleeve before passing through ducts 21 to the piston bearing. The lubricant after leaving the bearing 13 mixes with the fuel-air mixture of the engine and reaches the inner periphery of the casing on which the piston corners slide.
