Abstract

1,142,819. Door-closers. BRANECKE ZELEZARNY, NARODNI PODNIK. 6 Sept., 1966, No. 39748/66. Addition to 1,114,973. Heading E2M. A spring-operated door-closer with a hydraulic check device comprises a toothed doubleacting piston 6 actuated by a pinion on shaft 12 carrying an arm connected to the door frame. On opening the door, springs 7, 7' are compressed when the piston is moved to the left in Fig. 1 and hydraulic fluid flows out of chamber 4 into chamber 4' via channel 14, port 16 and ball valve 17'. When the door is closed, the piston is returned in the reverse direction, ball valve 17' closes, and the hydraulic fluid flows from chamber 4' back to chamber 4 through groove 18', port 10, and channel 8 during a first closing phase, the end of which is marked by the closure of port 10 by the surface of piston 6, then solely through channel 8 during a second closing phase which is terminated when channel 14 opens, the third closing phase proceeding without damping. The length of the third closing phase may be adjusted by appropriate shortening or lengthening of the connecting arm, channel 8 is provided with needle valves (9, 9') (see Fig. 4, not shown) for regulating the flow of hydraulic fluid therethrough.
