Abstract

1,142,467. Shotgun cartridges. IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) Ltd. 12 May, 1967 [22 June, 1966], No. 27874/66. Heading F3A. The external surface 7 of the forward end of a shotgun cartridge case 2 is tapered, and the internal surface adjacent the forward end progressively diverges so that the forward end can be readily crimped to form a closure. The case can be made from multi-layered paper or polyethylene which has been molecularly orientated by stretching. The case can be cut to length and tapered externally whilst supported on a spinning mandrel, and the internal surface of the case may be modified by pressing a frustoconical plug into the mouth of the case.
