Abstract
1,141,869. Polycarbonates. INSTYTUT TWORZYW SZTUCZNYCH. 16 June, 1967 [17 June, 1966], No. 27972/67. Heading C3R. In the manufacture of polycarbonates by effecting a transesterification reaction between an organic dihydroxyl compound and a carbonic acid ester, the reaction is performed in the presence of a compound acting as a catalyst and a stabilizer and which is an alkylaryl silane, an arylsilane, an alkylarylalkoxysilane, an alkylalkoxysilane or an arylalkoxysilane (or a mixture of these silanes). In the examples, the dihydroxyl compound is bisphenol-A or an adduct thereof with phenol and the carbonic ester is diphenyl carbonate.
