Abstract

1,141,854. Explosive cartridges. SEXTON CAN CO. Inc. 3 May, 1966 [2 Nov., 1965], No. 19465/66. Heading F3A. [Also in Division B3] Cartridges for assembly as explosive columns each comprise a cylinder 1 closed and formed at a first end with a male thread 12 and closed at the opposite end with a cover comprising a tube 14 which is formed with an integral flange 45 and supported from the rim of the cylinder by an annular member 41 consisting of a tubular part 20, a first layer 21 underlying the flange, a second layer 22 overlying at least the periphery of the flange, and a third layer 23 which is formed with a female thread 24 complementary to the male thread 12 and the male thread formed on a plastic or hard rubber detonator shield (80, Fig. 1, not shown). Sealing composition may be placed in the bend between the flange and the tube and in the bed between the first layer and the tubular part. An electric detonator 82 may be received in the tube 14.
