Abstract
1,141,188. Liquefied gas storage containers. MAX - PLANCK - GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FORDERUNG DER WISSENSCHAFTEN E.V. 20 Sept., 1967 [24 Sept.; 1966], No. 42800/67. Heading F4P. An inner liquefied gas container 2 is suspended by a wide neck 3 within an outer jacketing container 1 and is centred therein by three inwardly directed spacing pins 6, only one of which is shown, carried by the jacket 1 and which make contact with the inner container only when the latter is about ambient temperature. On charging the container 2 through a filler pipe 11 the resulting thermal contraction of container 2 breaks the contact and so reduces heat flow across the space 5 between the containers which space is maintained under vacuum and is in part charged with metalcoated plastics foil and with a residual gas absorbent 8. The contents quantity is indicated by a float 15 connected by a rod 16 to a calibrated tube 17.
