1,140,151. Machine tool details; making guides for machine tools. WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK VOGTLAND VEB. 3 Jan., 1967, No. 333/67. Headings B3A and B3B. [Also in Division F2] A method of manufacturing a guide arrangement e.g. for a machine tool, having two relatively slidable parts comprises bonding a flexible slide plate to one of the guide parts by a hardenable adhesive or plastics layer, the said layer being applied in a thickness greater than required for the final desired position of the slide plate and the guide parts then being assembled so that the slide plate is held in the desired position while the adhesive substance hardens. Slide plates 7, 8, 9 comprising a thin metal plate with a surface layer of polytetrafluorethylene with lead additive are applied to a layer of adhesive of extra thickness on the surfaces of a carriage 1; when the adhesive has stiffened slightly the carriage is mounted on the guideway 2 and loaded so that the slide plates are set in the desired position as the adhesive finally hardens. Similar procedure is followed for slide plates 10, 11 on holding down plates 3, 4 and for slide plate 12 on a wedge bar 5.
