Abstract
1,039,358. Steam superheaters. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 26, 1963 [April 7, 1962], No. 12014/63. Heading F4A. In a steam boiler having a radiant superheater located in the upper portion of the combustion chamber, the superheater consists of a plurality of U-shaped tubes with vertical arms connected in parallel and grouped to form a series of U-shaped bands of tubes 4 which are suspended side-by-side. Each band of tubes has its own inlet and outlet header 5, 6 which are respectively connected by pipes 3, 7 to main inlet and outlet headers 2, 3 so that the bands and individual headers can expand and contract independently. The tube bands with interposed evaporator tubes, not shown, may constitute the wall lining in the upper part of the combustion chamber. Steam flow to the bands located in less intensely heated regions of the chamber, e.g. the corners, may be restricted by forming these bands of tubes of reduced crosssection. In addition steam flow control valves 10 may be located in the inlet pipes 3 or in the outlet pipes 7.
