Abstract
1,035,656. Ignition systems. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 30, 1963 [May 1, 1962], No. 16689/62. Heading F1B. In an ignition system a unidirectional current carrying device is connected across the plug gap P and a control means is provided to make the device effective to pass current during alternate half cycles in a sparking period. As shown a device R in series with a a switch S is connected across the plug. A controlled rectifier may be connected across the plug and a triggering means may be provided to control the conducting periods of the rectifier. A conventional ignition system is described in which a switching means G may comprise a conventional spark gap or a rectifier arrangement as described in Specification 962,417.
