Abstract

1,035,277. Drying in electric fields. AACHEN-GERRESHEIMER TEXTILGLAS G.m.b.H. GEVETEX. July 13, 1964 [July 12, 1963], No. 28838/64. Heading F4G. In a process of drying dressed filamentary material, e.g. glass, the material is wound as a spool 5 on a sleeve 6 of heat resistant material, e.g. polypropylene which is elastically resilient in the radial direction and the spools pass through a H.F. field generated between an electrically earthed conveyer 4 forming one electrode and an electrode 8. The spools move through the field with their longitudinal axis parallel to the direction of the field and the electrode 8 is adjustably mounted relative thereto. The spools have cams 9 and corrugations (not shown). Drying by this method inhibits the dressing migrating to the outer surface of the spool.
