Abstract

1,034,721. Purifying charge. S.A. ANDRE CITROEN. Feb. 4, 1964 [Feb. 6, 1963], No. 4733/64. Heading FIB. [Also in Division B1] An air intake filter and silencer comprises a casing 18, Fig. 3, with resonator spaces 9a, 9b, formed between the air inlet tube 5 and the casing, connected to the tube by branch ducts 8a, 8b. The tube 5 may be trumpet shaped and connected to half shells 18a, 18b, at the point 20, the filter 2 being held within the bent up ends 22, 23, of the casing shells. In Fig. 2 the air inlet tube 5 is formed by half shells 5a, 5b, with channel portions 8a, 8b, forming the passages leading to the resonator spaces, the ends 17a of the tube 5 being circular to mate with the filter 2 surmounting the outlet orifice 7. The tube 5 may be formed as a unitary member of plastic.
