Abstract

1,033,665. Refuse receptacles. CARTEM ENGINEERING Ltd. April 8, 1963 [April 17, 1962; Aug. 22, 1962], Nos. 14857/62 and 32234/62. Heading B8C. A holder for a paper refuse sack comprises a frame member around which the mouth portion of the sack is caused to engage, a pair of arms shaped to embrace the frame member and operable to clamp the sack thereto, and a vertically disposed plate-like mounting bracket, a pair of metal straps fixed at their rear ends to said mounting bracket and at the forward end to the frame member, the clamping arms being pivotally mounted at one end in sockets provided on said brackets such that they can swing into and out of operative position. The frame member 1 is held by straps welded to both the frame and the bracket 3 which also has two sockets 4 to receive the rear ends of the clamping arms 5 shaped at the forward end to form handles 6 joined by a releasable fastening 7, the arms being received in a V or similar groove 8 when the sack is in position. The bracket 3 may be screwed to a vertical support and it has a rib 10 to reinforce the bracket and to locate it when mounted on a vertical post, a second plate being used to abut the rear face of the post. A lid 11 is hinged to the frame holding straps and the frame member may have a resilient rim to provide a substantially air-tight closure as well as reducing noise. The frame member may be provided with projecting spikes on to which the sack is impaled before clamping. The holder may have any other desired shape such as circular, Fig. 6 (not shown).
